đŸ« Nutella Swirl Bread (Soft, Chocolatey & Incredibly Easy!)

Nutella Swirl Bread

If you love Nutella (and honestly, who doesn’t?), this Nutella Swirl Bread is about to become your new go‑to treat. Using my no‑fail homemade bread dough, this recipe creates a soft, tender loaf filled with rich, chocolate‑hazelnut swirls that look impressive but take very little effort. It’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, snacking, or gifting—and it makes your kitchen smell absolutely heavenly.

⭐ Ingredients

Oven: 350°F
Pan: Greased loaf pan

Dough

  • 2 cups warm liquid (100°F–110°F) — milk or water (milk adds more flavor)

  • ÂŒ cup sugar

  • 2œ tsp salt

  • 1œ tbsp active dry yeast

  • ÂŒ cup liquid fat (oil, melted butter, or melted margarine for a vegan option)

  • 5–7 cups flour (AP, bread, whole wheat, or a mix — AP works best)

Filling

  • Nutella — about 1 to 1œ cups, or as much as your heart desires

đŸ„Ł Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine the warm liquid, yeast, and half the sugar. Let bloom for about 5 minutes.

  2. Add the remaining sugar, salt, and fat. Stir gently.

  3. Add 4 cups of flour and mix. Add more flour as needed until the dough is soft, slightly sticky, and pulls away from the bowl.

  4. Knead for 10 minutes (stand mixer or by hand).

  5. Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size—about 1 hour in a warm spot.

2. Divide & Roll

Once risen, punch down the dough and divide into two portions.
(Use one half for Nutella Swirl Bread and save the other for bread, buns, pizza dough, cinnamon rolls, or another bake.)

Roll one portion into a Œ‑inch thick square.

3. Add the Nutella

Spread a generous layer of Nutella over the entire surface of the dough.

4. Shape the Swirl

  1. Roll the dough tightly into a log, just like cinnamon rolls.

  2. Slice the log lengthwise, keeping the top end attached.

  3. Twist the two strands together to form a braid, then tuck the ends underneath.

5. Bake

Place the twisted loaf into a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350°F for 30–40 minutes on top of a cookie sheet to catch any chocolate drips.

6. Cool & Enjoy

Let the bread cool for a few minutes before slicing—otherwise the molten Nutella will burn your tongue (worth it, but still).

💡 Tips for Perfect Nutella Swirl Bread

  • Warm the Nutella slightly to make spreading easier.

  • Don’t skip the cookie sheet—overflowing chocolate is delicious but messy.

  • This dough freezes beautifully, so you can prep extra loaves ahead of time.
